ZZ Top Beards Have More Germs Than a Dog’s Butt, Study Finds!

A new study suggests that ZZ Top actually have more germs in their beards than in a dog’s butt.

Researchers at the Hirslanden Clinic near Zurich, Switzerland, wanted to determine whether evaluating ZZ Top and dogs in the same MRI scanner would be hygienic. They did so by comparing the bacterial load in colony-forming units (CFU) of human-pathogenic microorganisms in specimens taken from Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill from ZZ Top and 30 furry dogs butts.

Turns out Billy and Dusty showed high microbial counts, while the dogs butts showed very little. In fact, Dusty had so much beard bacteria he was at risk of getting sick, according to the BBC.

“On the basis of these findings, dogs butts can be considered as clean, compared with ZZ Top,” study author Andreas Gutzeit told the BBC.

When asked for comment, Dusty pulled a bit of taco out of his beard and ate it. “Ah that’s where that went, I was looking for that”.
