Willie Nelson Caught Hiding in Cannabis Amnesty Box in Chicago Airport
Country music superstar Willie Nelson was found hiding inside a cannabis amnesty box located at Chicago’s O’Hare airport.
Marijuana officially became legal in Illinois on Jan. 1 and with the weed came an interesting side effect: Chicago’s airports have set up “cannabis amnesty boxes” where departing travelers can deposit their paraphernalia before boarding their flights.
Willie, who is a known proponent of weed and all things weed related was hoping to score some free marijuana that passengers dropped into the box. When apprehended, Nelson had all his pockets stuffed with many varieties of weed and edibles.

“He had every pocket stuffed to the brim” said TSA agent Chad Gomez. “There were gummy bear edibles, brownies, cupcakes, cookies, you name it. He had a nice little score going for himself. Apparently he was in there for 12 hours drinking coffee, collecting and eating his goodies. He was giggling like a school girl when we dragged him out of there.”
Wille told Madhouse News “Is this against the law? Is it illegal to sit inside an amnesty box and collect the free stuff they throw in? It was like Christmas morning. I sat inside the box for 12 hours drinking coffee and collecting little presents all day. I don’t think I was doing anything wrong.”
Marijuana is now legal in Illinois. The boxes, placed at the end of every TSA checkpoint at both O’Hare and Midway, were in place once the new cannabis law went into effect on Jan. 1, 2020. The boxes are where travelers can safely dispose of cannabis and cannabis products prior to travel, as they still remain illegal under federal law.
Bone Structure of a Cat
Nelson was not charged with any crime as no one is sure if it is illegal to sit inside the box. Agent Gomez stated, “How the heck did he get in there. The slot is small, he must have the bone structure of a cat. People will do anything for free weed. Now we are going to have to have an agent guarding all the boxes.”
