William Shatner Releases New Space Theme Album: “Live From Uranus”

William Shatner is capitalizing on his recent trek into space. He is releasing a brand new full length space inspired album. 

The album is being produced by Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin. It will feature many reworked rock classics and 2 New Originals. The original songs were written by Shatner and Desmond Child. They include “Klingons on Uranus” and “I Gotta Captain’s Log In My Pants”. 

Nightmare at 20,000 Feet

Shatner of course, is an actor best known for his role as Captain Kirk on Star Trek. He also played some memorable roles on The Twilight Zone. In one classic episode, Shatner faces off against a Gremlin in “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet”. William also played TJ Hooker for many years. 

Earlier this week, Shatner flew to space aboard a Blue Origin sub-orbital capsule. At age 90 he became the oldest person to fly to space and one of the first 600 to do so. Minutes after the flight, in a televised conversation with Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos, Shatner articulated experiencing the overview effect while simultaneously vomiting and “shatnering” his pants.

The Transformed Man

Shatner began his musical career with the spoken word 1968 album The Transformed Man. He delivering exaggerated, interpretive recitations of popular songs like “Mr. Tambourine Man” and “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”. For the new album, Bill has reworked the Beatles classic song lyrics for “Bezos in the Sky With Diamonds”. Many of his songs have become instant cult classics. They are very collectible as well. A rare mint condition copy of “The Transformed Man” recently sold at auction for $1.7 Million.

We are not sure what to make of this album, but we know it is exactly what the world needs right about now. The universe may very well heal after listening to William Shatner singing Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun”, The Beastie Boys “Intergalactic” or Lou Reed’s “Satellite of Love”.
