Tina Turner Confesses to Peeing on Ike’s Grave
Music icon Tina Turner has confessed to peeing on the grave of her ex-husband, Ike Turner. Tina Turner vs. Ike’s Grave.
Tina Turner was married to Ike from 1962-1976 and wrote of years of abuse at the hands of Ike. “Basically I giggled like a schoolgirl when I read that sumb*tch dropped dead. First I danced, I laughed, I cried” said Tina. “Then I ate cookies and milk and watched bugs bunny when I read the news.”
Tina Turner vs Ike’s Grave
Ike Turner died of a cocaine overdose on December 12, at the age of 76, at his home in San Marcos, California. The funeral was held on December 22, 2007, at the City of Refuge Church in Gardena, California. Among those who spoke at the funeral were Little Richard, Solomon Burke and Phil Spector. The Kings of Rhythm played versions of “Rocket 88” and “Proud Mary”. Turner was cremated after the funeral service.
Following the burial, the ashes went to Ike’s good friend and mentor Al Sharpton. Slick Al then buried them in “Our Lady of Guadalupe” cemetery in Los Angeles. “When Sharpton told me where the ashes were buried, I flew in from Switzerland to pay that grave a visit. On the flight I drank 2 gallons of water and then I stopped at 7-11 and bought a big gulp of Mt. Dew.” said Tina. “When I got to the gravesite I peed on that damn thing for what seemed like 35 minutes. I wrote my name and I did the whole Proud Mary dance routine. I flooded that grave. It felt good. It felt right. I still stop down to the grave whenever I am in L.A and pee or spit on the grave. It’s a ritual for me.
Say What?
The first account of physical abuse committed by Ike happened after Tina complained of financial issues and asked to end their confusing relationship; Ike responded by hitting her in the head with a wooden shoe stretcher. Afterwards, Ike asked her to have sex with him. Tina wrote in her memoirs, I, Tina, that the incident was the first time Ike had “instilled fear” in her. Ike Turner would later admit in an interview with Spin, “yeah, I hit her, but I didn’t hit her more than the average guy beats his wife… if she says I abused her, maybe I did.” He worded this slightly differently in his memoirs, Taking Back My Name (1999), writing: “Sure, I’ve slapped Tina…. There have been times when I punched her to the ground without thinking. But I have never beat her.”
