Steven Tyler to Star as ‘Maude’ in Reboot Of The 1970s Sitcom
Singer Steven Tyler will star as ‘Maude’ in a remake of the ground breaking 1970s sitcom. The original show aired on CBS from September 12, 1972, to April 22, 1978. It was created by Norman Lear and was a spinoff of All in The Family.
‘Maude’ was originally played by actress Bea Arthur. The twist in this remake is that Tyler will play an outspoken, middle-aged, politically liberal transgendered woman living in suburban Tuckahoe, New York. Maude lives with her fourth husband Walter Findlay. Walter runs a sustainable, vegan, gluten free, plant based coffee house.
Vin Diesel
Walter will be played by Vin Diesel. Maude’s next door neighbors, Arthur and Vivian Harmon will be played by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Maude’s daughter Carol is played by Jussie Smollett. The role of the maid, originally played by Esther Rolle, will now be a butler and will be played by former Red Sox baseball player, David Ortiz.
Maude embraces the tenets of women’s liberation, always votes for Democratic Party candidates, and advocates for civil rights and racial and gender equality. However, her overbearing and sometimes domineering personality often gets her into trouble when speaking about these issues. She ends every argument with “God will get you for that”.
Steven Tyler told Madhouse News, “I am really excited about the role. I loved Bea Arthur. I used to fantasize about her when I pleasured myself. Now I get to wear her clothes, It is a sick twisted world. We actually worked with Bea’s estate and some auction houses to get all of Maude’s original outfits. I look fierce, and I can still smell her essence.”
Joe Perry
When asked for comment, Aerosmith Guitarist Joe Perry stated, “Oh Brother, here we go again! It was bad enough when Steven was doing American Idol, now this! I quit the band, call Robert Plant! “
