Slayer Inducted Into Hip Hop Hall of Fame
The Heavy Metal band Slayer was inducted into the Hip Hop Hall of Fame yesterday. The move was part of a goodwill campaign that saw numerous Hip Hop artists inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
Slayer is an American thrash metal band from California. Initially The band was formed in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, drummer Dave Lombardo, and bassist and vocalist Tom Araya. Slayer’s fast and aggressive musical style made them one of the “big four” bands of thrash metal. Alongside Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax. Slayer is best known for their loud aggressive, some say Satan Worshipping songs. Songs such as, “Postmortem”, “Dead Skin Mask”, “Hell Awaits”, “Raining Blood” and “Angel of Death”.
Hip Hop Hall of Fame
The Hip Hop Hall of Fame was founded in 1992 by Hip Hop Hall of Fame Awards creator and executive producer Jaleel White. The official Hip Hop Hall of Fame Museum offices are currently headquartered in Harlem, New York City in White’s studio apartment. However, no physical Hall of Fame exists. It was supposed to be modeled after the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. To clarify, The money from the yearly awards show would be used to build a museum. However, all the advertisers and sponsors backed out due to the increasing violence and senseless killings surrounding rap music at the time.
Wait, What?
Slayer bassist/vocalist Tom Araya told Madhouse News, “Wait what? We were inducted into what? Who is this again? I never heard of the Hip Hop Hall of Fame. We are not even in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. How in the world did we get into the Hip Hop HOF. Well, I guess it can’t be worse than that Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They inducted ABBA, Eminem and Dolly Parton, what a joke. Oh wait a minute, I did get a call this morning from some guy named White but I thought it was a joke. He wanted to induct me via Zoom. You mean this is a real thing? The Hip Hop Hall of Fame doesn’t even really exist and White runs it out of his apartment in Harlem? Ha that is awesome. It is a great honor, but I think we will pass though.”
Conversely, Hip Hop artists in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame include, “NWA”, “Eminem”, “Tupac Shakur”, “Notorious BIG”, “Vanilla Ice”, “MC Hammer”, “Sir Mix A Lot”, “Color Me Badd”, “Kid N Play” “Snow”, “DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince” and “Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch”.
