Wow! I am at the Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia. What a beautiful venue. You can just feel the history. Built in 1908 by Oscar Hammerstein, it is lavish and fully restored to it’s glory and splendor. It is beautiful and very fancy, I feel like I should have worn a gown myself. The acoustics are amazing, which make this one of the premier locations to see an event in Philly.
Sarah McLachlan is performing with The Philly Pops tonight. The 65 piece orchestra is led by Music Director Todd Ellison. There is something very special about seeing a rock or pop band performing with a professional orchestra. It adds a whole new dimension to the songs that you already know and love.
Sarah comes out looking splendid. So beautiful in her long flowing gown, but the bare feet are a nice touch. A nod to her hippie, Lilith fair, side. I just love her. Sarah alternates between Guitar and Piano. and her voice is so beautiful.
The night is filled with an excellent selection of songs covering Sarah’s career. Her between song banter delights the crowd. Ex husbands, friends and lovers make for good stories and songs.
Sarah ends the night with a moving version of “Angel”. McLachlan seems to be in a good place. She thanks the crowd and The Philly Pops, and is truly thankful to be here and to be performing for us. We love you Sarah. Thank You for a wonderful evening.
