Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has joined the cast of ‘Deadliest Catch’. Deadliest Catch is a documentary television series that airs on the Discovery Channel. The show portrays the real life events aboard fishing vessels in the Bering Sea during the Alaskan king crab, snow crab and bairdi crab fishing seasons.

Deadliest Job on Earth

It’s the deadliest job on earth: crab fishing off the Alaskan coast on the icy Bering Sea. It is not for the weak of heart. With some of the roughest conditions imaginable, Alaskan crab fishing is one of the most dangerous occupations in the United States. It is right behind organized crime and marrying a Kardashian.

Ringo will join the cast as a deck hand on the ‘Time Bandit’ boat, captained by Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand. Ringo has always been fascinated by the sea, and often dreamed of crab fishing as a boy in the port town of Liverpool.

I Got Crabs!

“I would often lie in bed at night thinking about mermaids and sea monsters” said Ringo. “Every night I would have funny dreams and my pajamas would be damp in the morning. As a boy, I was sickly, so I couldn’t go fishing in the river. My Mum bought fish and stocked the toilet with them. I would spend hours in there with my fishing gear on casting away and catching loads of fish.”

Ringo Starr aka Richard Starkey has never had a job outside of show business. When asked why he would want to take such a dangerous job, Ringo stated “I always loved the sea, I wrote Octopus’ Garden and I worked on Yellow Submarine, so that pretty much qualifies me for the job. I am excited for a new adventure. Whats the worst that could happen? I will get a little fresh air and a bit of sun and hang around with a swell bunch of mates.”
