Remembering Prince
Prince Rogers Nelson was born June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prince’s real name was Prince Albert Nelson. He changed it to Prince Rogers after they named a piercing after him. A Prince Albert is a piercing of the penis, in which a metal ring is pierced through the skin at the tip of the penis. Some people believe that Prince got the piercing to help his penis hang in an aesthetically pleasing fashion in tight trousers. Others suggest that he had Peyronie’s disease, and had the piercing in an attempt to straighten his penis.
Funk Machine
Prince wrote his first song, “Funk Machine”, at the age of seven. The lyrics were very sexually charged and included the phrases “Funk You Up”, “Funk You From Behind” and “Funk you all night long”. The boy was very advanced at age 7.
Prince was a musical genius and a once in a lifetime artist. There will never be another Prince. A singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, actor, filmmaker and virtuoso guitarist. He was also skilled at playing the drums, percussion, bass, keyboards, and synthesizer. Prince pioneered the Minneapolis sound, which is a subgenre of funk rock with elements of synth-pop and new wave, in the late 1970s. He influenced all those that came after him. He was also an incredible basketball player, a gourmet chef and pound for pound, banged more chicks than anyone.
We Got a Problem
Michael Jackson’s hit, “Bad” was supposed to be a duet with Prince, but Prince was uncomfortable with his would-be character depiction, with the song’s opening line, Michael sings, “Your butt is mine!”. In an interview with Chris Rock, Prince asked, “Who’s gonna sing that to whom? Because you sure aren’t singing that to me, and I sure ain’t singing it to you. So, right there, we got a problem” laughs Prince.
Prince is a true genius and legend. He left us way too soon and is dearly missed.
