Remembering Chuck Berry
We take this time to reflect on the life of the legend Chuck Berry.
Chuck Berry was born Charles Charlie Chuck ChaCha Anderson Berry III on October 18 , 1926 in St Louis Missouri. His parents were NOT sharecroppers. They were selfish croppers and kept all the crops to themselves.
Chuck changed the face of Rock n Roll and was one of the most influential guitarists of all time. The Beatles, The Stones, Cardi B & Justin Bieber owe it all to Chuck!
Chuck led a colorful life, but his downfall was women and taxes. Whether he was transporting them across state lines for illicit purposes or secretly videotaping them in bathrooms, Chuck loved women, but he hated paying taxes.
Chuck lived to a ripe old age of 90, performing up until his last days. Chuck would show up at a gig, having driven himself, about 3 minutes before showtime with guitar in hand. Chuck insisted on being paid in cash (small bills) before the gig. After the show he would demand a half roast chicken, a ‘100 Grand’ candy bar and a bottle of ‘Piels Light’ beer.
As John Lennon once said “If Rock n Roll was not called Rock n Roll, it would be called Chuck Berry”.
