Peter Frampton Admits He Wore a Wig For The Entire 1970’s
In a shocking admission, rocker Peter Frampton disclosed to Madhouse News, that he has worn a wig for most of his career.
After a stint in Humble Pie and four moderately successful solo albums, everything changed in 1976. Frampton became an International superstar with the release of “Frampton Comes Alive”. His fame was attributed to his long luxurious locks as much as his musicianship.
“Who could forget the album cover” said longtime fan James McNally. “The poster was on everyone’s wall in the 1970’s. He was like a golden god. Frampton was on the cover of every magazine. Girls loved him. I loved him, I only wished I could grow hair like his. I was cursed with nappy brillo-like hair.”
Peter Frampton Wig
Frampton is on the interview circuit to promote his latest memoir, “Do You Feel Like I Do”. Peter broke the news to Claude Balzac of Madhouse Magazine during an interviewer. Balzac asked Peter if there was anything he wanted to tell the world. Something that he has never disclosed before.
Peter thought for a moment and then stated, “Yes Claude there is. I wanted to get this off my chest for 50 years. During the entire 1970’s, I wore a wig. I have been bald as an egg since 18. The Frampton comes alive album cover? That was a wig. I never took it off, only a few people witnessed me without it.”
I Am Free
Peter then pulled out a totally bald photo of himself from 1976. He was wearing headphones and listening to the first print of Frampton Comes Alive. “This is totally freeing” said Frampton. “I feel alive. So free. Like a naked Swedish boy running though the country side.”
“They told me to wear the wig and take off my shirt. I should have said No more often. I wanted to call the follow up album “I’m Bald” but they made me called “I’m In You”. They made my career but then ruined it. The wig was a curse, and now I am finally free.”
