Pete Townshend Thrown Out of Guitar Center For Smashing Guitars
In a scene reminiscent of his wild rockstar days, legendary guitarist Pete Townshend recently found himself in a bit of a pickle after a visit to a local Guitar Center. The iconic member of The Who decided to unleash his inner rock god and give the store’s guitars a good beating and a little taste of his signature windmill moves. Little did he know that this impromptu performance would result in an unexpected eviction from the premises.
Pete Townshend vs Guitar Center
Townshend, known for his energetic stage presence and guitar-smashing antics, apparently couldn’t resist the temptation of the well-stocked Guitar Center. Armed with a devilish grin and a borrowed instrument, he unleashed a furious flurry of windmill strums, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Shoppers and employees alike watched in awe as he recreated the chaos of his legendary performances. “It’s been a while” said Townshend.
However, chaos quickly turned into calamity when the store’s security personnel realized what was happening. Panic ensued as Townshend continued his destructive display, smashing guitar after guitar with reckless abandon. Strings were snapped, bodies were splintered, and blood was spilled.
In a nod to his old buddy Keith Moon, Pete even loaded up a drum set with dynamite and blew it to smithereens. “That SOB Moon blew me ear drums out on The Smothers Brothers show when he blew up his drum kit” said Townshend. “I have been deaf ever since, God I miss him.”
Abbie Hoffman
Store employees, caught between astonishment and horror, scrambled to protect the remaining instruments and ushered confused customers to safety. One brave employee, who shall remain unnamed, rushed Townshend only to get a Gibson Les Paul in the teeth. “Just like Abbie Hoffman at Woodstock” laughed Pete.
It wasn’t long before the local authorities arrived, ready to restore order and put an end to this unexpected rock ‘n’ roll rampage. Townshend, still fueled by adrenaline, Mountain Dew and the spirit of rebellion, was gently escorted out of the Guitar Center. As he exited, he playfully strummed a makeshift air guitar and gave a cheeky wink to the bewildered crowd. He then broke free momentarily and tried to set some Marshall amplifiers on fire. Townshend was asked not to return.
