Pete Townshend: Keith Moon Once Sewed My Head to the Carpet
Pete Townshend of The Who, told Madhouse News, that drummer Keith Moon once played a very funny prank on him.
Keith Moon, known for his wild ways and hard partying, often trashed hotel rooms, drove cars into swimming pools and pulled the most outrageous pranks on his friends.

“It was the tour of 1971” said Townshend. “We just played The Spectrum in Philadelphia and we were back at the Holiday Inn, partying pretty hard. I had a few brandy’s and Keith gave me a handful of horse tranquilizers. The next thing I knew, I woke up 2 days later on the floor and couldn’t move.”
“Apparently I passed out”, continued Townshend, “and being that Moon is a psycho, he couldn’t just shave my eyebrows off or something. He had to actually sew my head to the carpet. The loon got a needle and thread and sewed my head to the carpet!”
“After I woke up, I started screaming and eventually Roger found me. He went and got the road crew and some groupies. They took pictures and humiliated me for quite awhile. He even allowed fans to take pictures with me. After he stopped laughing, he called the police and fire squad. The fire squad brought in a seamstress and they eventually freed me. We all had a good laugh.”
Good Times
“I got him back in Chicago though” commented Pete. “One night Moon passed out, so I smeared peanut butter on his genitals and let rats loose on him. They gnawed one of his testicles off. We had a lot of fun back then. Good times. I still have the testicle over there in a jar. You want to see it? Jann Wenner contacted me and wanted to buy it for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. I think I will keep it though.”
