Pete Davidson Out! Ryan Gosling To Star As Joey Ramone in Biopic
Ryan Gosling as Joey Ramone? Drama is brewing in the Ramones family. Apparently Pete Davidson is out and Ryan Gosling is in. Gosling will star as Joey Ramone in the Netflix biopic on the lead Ramone’s life. A long-simmering feud between the families of Joey and Johnny Ramone has erupted into a new lawsuit over the proposed biopic.
In a lawsuit filed in Manhattan court, Johnny’s widow, Linda Ramone, claims that Joey’s brother, Mickey Leigh (Buster Hyman) “covertly, secretly, surreptitiously, stealthy and clandestinely developed an unapproved, unsanctioned, illegitimate and unauthorized Ramones-based biopic” based on his own “one-sided recitation of the history of the Ramones. It also alleges that Mickey is an all around douche.”
Joey Ramone who’s real name is Jeffrey Hyman founded the Ramones in Queens, NY in 1974 along with Johnny aka John Cummings. Joey was the lead vocalist and Johnny the guitarist. The two punk rockers developed a rift due in part that Joey dated Linda before Johnny eventually married her. Joey accused Johnny of stealing her. After Joey and Johnny both died of cancer, the business dealings of The Ramones were left to Joey’s dimwitted brother Mickey and Johnny’s wife Linda.
Basically Linda is very upset that Pete Davidson is starring in a movie about The Ramones and the actor playing Johnny is Asian. “What kind of sense does that make?” asked Linda. “Johnny was not Asian and Pete Davidson likes Nickelback. But the worst part is that they have Lizzo playing me in the movie. That is Mickey’s way of getting back at me again. You want to know Mickey’s character? He is like the guy in the Zombie movie that gets bit but then tries to hide it. I may not be perfect but at least I am not Mickey.”

Linda and Mickey seem to have come to an agreement in order to get the movie completed. Pete Davidson is out and heart throb Ryan Gosling will star as Joey. Johnny will be played by Timothee Chalamat and Margot Robbie will play Linda. Dee Dee will be played by Cillian Murphy. Hopefully this new all star cast will satisfy all and the movie will be completed and released with no further issues.
As has been noted The Ramones were one of the greatest and most influential punk bands of all time. It is a shame that the great brand is left in the hands of two people with no talent who had nothing to do with the success of the band. Some say Joey’s brother Mickey is the “Fredo” of the Hyman brothers. Whatever happened to Dee Dee’s share of the band? Did he trade it for a bag? What about Tommy the drummer or the fill in with the wig Marky? Hey Ho Let’s Go!
