Man Empties Daughters College Fund to Buy Springsteen Tickets

A New Jersey man emptied his daughter’s entire college fund in order to purchase Bruce Springsteen concert tickets. Gary Gerard of Freehold, New Jersey, purchased one premium double secret VIP ticket for all three of the 2023 Springsteen concerts in Florida. The tickets cost $12,000 each plus an additional $12,000 in fees and surcharges for a whopping total of $48,000.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are going on tour in 2023. Tickets to some of the shows went on sale this week. Many fans were outraged as they watched ticket prices rise to exorbitant amounts right before their eyes as a result of Ticketmaster’s “dynamic pricing” system. Fans were so upset they organized a Springsteen album burning.

This did not phase Gerard in the least. “I love the boss man. Of course, I have seen him every tour since the 1970s. I saw him at the Stone Pony, in Philly and all over the world. Bruce is one of us man. He is a blue collar regular guy like me and you. Sure he may have a net worth of $500 million and hangs out with Oprah and the President, but he’s still a jersey shlub like me. He drinks beer and scratches himself and gets arrested for DWI. If Bruce wants $12,000 per ticket then I am going to pay it. Bruce needs it more than I do.”

Gerard continued, “Of course this is just the beginning, I will also go to all of the East Coast shows and with travel and hotel and fees etc, when it is all said and done, it will cost me about $100,000. Coincidentally that is how much I had stocked away for my daughter’s college costs. My parents left me $99,000 and I saved the other $1,000. She doesn’t need to go to such a fancy school anyway. I went to Community College and I got a good job with the Department of Public Works. The world needs ditch diggers too, you know.”

Gerard’s daughter Lily is devastated. “I worked really hard, I got accepted into Rutgers and NYU” cried Lily. “Well, I guess I could always work at WaWa or go into stripping.” Gerard’s wife Linda screamed, “He is a complete jacka$$. Who does something like that. I am so leaving him.”
