Happy Birthday Robert Plant
Robert Anthony Plant was born August 20, 1948 somewhere in England. Actually it was in the Black Country town of West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England. See this is why we always just say somewhere in England. Being from America, we have no idea what they are talking about.
Plant’s father Robert C Plant was an engineer who designed the sewers of West Bromwich and his mother, Annie was a gypsy. Young Robert dreamed of becoming an accountant, but changed his mind after seeing Elvis on the Telly. Robert adored Elvis, Willie Dixon, ‘Sleepy John Estes’, ‘Smelly Hubert Johnson’ & ‘Blind Melon Chitlin’.
Robert left home at age 16 and went on to form ‘Led Zeppelin’ in 1969 with Jimmy Page. The band’s eponymous debut album hit the charts in 1969 and is widely credited as a catalyst for the heavy metal genre.
Led Zeppelin went on to become one of the best selling and most influential band’s of all time. Plant is always in the top ten, when greatest lead singers are discussed. Robert also Ranked #37 on VH1’s 100 Sexiest Artists, right behind Jay Z, who was #36.
Rabid Fans
In 1975, rabid female fans chased Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and ripped his pants completely off. In recent years, Robert has done a lot of solo work and refuses to discuss Led Zeppelin and any chance of a reunion.
Last year, Plant made the news when he used his Karate skills to disarm a gunman attempting to rob a store. Plant wrestled the attacker into submission using a leg lock that left the attacker pleading to be released. “I saw this big bloke waving a gun at the shop keeper’s head” said Plant. “I put a hurt on him, and he started crying like a baby. Woo Woo, let me go, I’m sorry. Well I told him too late mate, we are waiting for police. Then he recognized me and asked me what’s a bustle in a hedgerow. I smacked him with a bottle for that one. And he was wearing a Rolling Stones shirt to boot!”
Plant enjoys stamp collecting, and playing parcheesi. His favorite color is paisley. Robert stands 6’1″ and weighs 77kg. Percy is very healthy with a BMI of 20 and his blood pressure is 110/70. He has a net worth of $200 million! Happy Birthday Robert Plant! Cheers!
