Happy Birthday Nancy Wilson
Nancy Lamoureux Wilson was born March 16, 1954, in San Francisco, California. Nancy is the youngest of three children born to Flip and Mary Wilson. She has two sisters, Ann and Gladys. Nancy was raised in Southern California and Taiwan before the family’s US Marine Corps father retired to the Seattle suburb of Bellevue, Washington, where they relocated when Wilson was six years old. The family lived in a two family home on a one way street in the Lake Hills neighborhood.
On February 9, 1964, Wilson and her sister Ann saw The Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show, a moment they each recalled as being profoundly influential: “The lightning bolt came out of the heavens and struck Ann and me the first time we saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show… Literally. We actually got hit by lightning, there was a terrible storm that night. Ann’s hair was smoking and she still glows in the dark. We took that as a sign from God. Right away, we started doing air guitar shows in the living room, faking English accents, and studying all the fanzines.”
Greatest Night Ever
On August 25, 1966, The Beatles performed at the Seattle Center Coliseum, a show which Wilson, her sister Ann, and bandmates attended, another event both recalled as influential in their early lives. They screamed for two hours straight, passed out and missed the show entirely but it was still the greatest night of their lives.
The sisters formed Heart officially with a bunch of guys in 1973. Heart rose to fame with the release of their debut album “Dreamboat Annie”. Heart’s US Top 40 singles include “Magic Man” (1975), “Crazy on You” (1976), “Barracuda” (1977), “What About Love” (1985), “Never” (1985), and “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You” (1990), along with no. 1 hits “These Dreams” (1986) and “Alone” (1987). Heart has sold over 35 million records worldwide, including approximately 22.5 million albums in the United States.
Cocaine, breakups, sisters fighting, reunions, more breakups, more fights, more of everything. Nancy dated all of the members of Heart before marrying Hollywood guy Cameron Crowe. Twins, divorce and another marriage.
