Happy Birthday Mick Fleetwood

Michael John Kells Stevie Fleetwood was born June 24, 1947 – somewhere in England. He is fluent in British.

Mick was 6’6” in third grade and had long hair and a beard. He was an imposing figure to the other children. With his parents’ blessing Fleetwood dropped out of school in fourth grade to pursue a career in music.

The initial incarnation of Fleetwood Mac began in 1967 and included Peter Green, John McVie and Fleetwood. They had some success as a British psychedelic blues band. The band’s fortune changed in 1974 when Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined the band. The band’s debut album with the new lineup was a huge success.

Their next album, ‘Rumours’, was recorded under the influence of huge amounts of cocaine and turmoil. Nicks/Buckingham and The McVie’s were splitting up and the tension helped create an incredible album. ‘Rumours’ sold 10 million copies the first week alone.

During his wild years of drink and drugs in the ‘80s, Mick Fleetwood’s party posse included Hollywood hellraisers Nick Nolte, Gary Busey, Molly Ringwald and Bill Cosby. He formed a side project with Cosby called ‘Mac & Cheese’.

Fleetwood Mac still parades around today selling overpriced tickets to their concerts after unceremoniously firing Lindsey Buckingham and adding a juggler and a circus monkey to the band.
