Happy Birthday Grace Slick

Grace Slick aka Grace Wing was born into a Korean family in San Francisco on October 30, 1939.

Her parents owned and operated a fruit stand in Chinatown and little Grace would often sing to customers for a nickel.  

Grace eventually became the voice of a generation when she joined ‘Jefferson Airplane’.  Original singer, Signe Anderson was pregnant and Grace told her to take a few weeks off and she will hold her spot and she can have it back when she returns. That is the last anyone ever heard of Signe Anderson. 

Grace embodied the 1960’s! A badass beauty, Slick dosed Richard Nixon, appeared at ‘Monterey Pop’, ‘Woodstock’ & ‘Altamont’.  

Grace drank like a fish and cursed like a sailor. On her last bender, Grace pulled a shotgun on sheriff’s deputies and was subsequently body slammed. She was remanded to AA and community service. 

Grace, now 80, still looks lovely and spends her days with her 57 cats, painting and cursing at the news on TV.
