Happy Birthday Geddy Lee

Gary Lee Weinrib was born July 29, 1953 – somewhere in Canada. Did you know that his real name was Gary? Most fans were shocked when they learned this fact. He got the name ‘Geddy’ from his Polish mother’s thick accent attempting to say Gary.

Young Geddy enjoyed nudist magazines and started playing music in school at age 10. He started playing the trumpet and clarinet, but after a few severe beatings he switched to Guitar.

Geddy picked up the Bass and started emulating his heroes, John Entwistle, Jack Bruce, Paul McCartney and Claude Balzac. Geddy formed Rush with his fellow dungeons and dragons partner, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart joined in 1974. The band went on to become one of the biggest Progressive rock bands of all time.

Geddy still enjoys nudist magazines and also collects baseball memorabilia. In his collection, Geddy owns Ty Cobbs left testicle, which he keeps in a jar by his bed. He also owns Boog Powell’s bowel movement, a hot dog eaten and vomited by Babe Ruth and a condom once used by Reggie Jackson.

Girls Girls Girls

Lee married Nancy Young in 1976. She was the first girl that ever attended a Rush concert. “I was amazed when I saw her walk in” said Geddy. “I was used to our shows being a sausage fest and then I saw her. She was a vision of loveliness. I knew I had to marry her. I might never see another girl.” They have a son, Julian, and a daughter, Kyla.

Geddy Lee was very hurt and upset when drummer Neil Peart wrote a series of rude children’s books mocking Geddy. The first book is titled “Geddy Chokes his Chicken”, which laughs at Lee’s lifelong masturbation addiction. Geddy has admitted that he pleasures himself up to 7 times per day. Thankfully Geddy and Neil reconciled before Peart’s death.
