Remembering Eddie Van Halen

Edward Lodewijk Van Halen was born January 26, 1955 in Amsterdam, Netherlands to parents Daan and Roos. No one is really sure which name belongs to which parent.

The Van Halen’s moved to The US in 1962 and settled in California. The young boys were classically trained on the piano until they heard rock music and took up the drums and guitar.

Little Eddie

Little Eddie wound up becoming arguably, the greatest guitarist of all time. Eddie spent 10 years in his room practicing and masturbating. When he emerged he was a master of his own destiny and the guitar.

Eddie and his brother formed Van Halen with frontman David Lee Roth and Bassist Michael Anthony. One of the greatest Hard Rock/Heavy Metal bands of the 70’s and 80’s, the band broke ground musically, sexually and chemically. (*Van Hagar made some good music but Sammy is not DLR)

In one of his last interviews Eddie commented: “Sammy Hagar is a douche. David Lee Roth is a jerk and Michael Antony is an ass wipe. And I never heard of Gary Cherone.”

EVH was handsome, incredibly talented and could play the guitar better than anyone on the planet. Normally you would hate a guy like that, but we all loved him. Even when he married the love of my life and my childhood crush, Valerie Bertinelli, I wished him well and said it couldn’t happen to a better guy.

Rest in Peace

Eddie Van Halen passed away October 6, 2020 at the age of 65. Fook You Cancer! I am sad; heartbroken. I loved Van Halen and I loved Eddie. He meant so much to me and my entire generation of drunken teens. He reinvented the Guitar, influenced a generation and changed the face of music.
