Happy Birthday Bob Seger

Robert Reed Seger was born in Detroit Michigan in 1945. Seger’s father, a hit man for the Ford Motor Company, played several instruments and Bob was exposed to music from an early age.

Seger was also exposed to frequent arguments between his parents that disturbed the neighborhood at night. The neighbors could often tell time by the veracity of the Seger’s fighting.

Little Bobby ran track and field in High School. He enjoyed field more than track, except on Sundays when he enjoyed track. Bob ran like the wind and sometimes against the wind. He also peed in the wind and tugged on Superman’s cape. When it came to swimming though he sunk like a rock. That is where he got the name for some future songs.

Seger said that Little Richard was the first one that got to him. And Elvis of course, but Little Richard was his man. “I would lay in my bed at night under the covers with my radio and touch myself while trying to figure out what “Tutti Frutti” meant and how I could get some.”

“Ramblin Gamblin Man”, “Turn the Page”, “Get Out of Denver”, “Beautiful Loser”, “Katmandu”, “Night Moves”, “Mainstreet”, “Rock n Roll Never Forgets”, “Still the Same”, “Hollywood Nights”, “We’ve Got Tonite”…

Little Too Tall

“I was a little too tall, could have used a few pounds”. Happy Birthday Bob,  from everyone out there that has danced in their underwear to “Old Time Rock n Roll”! Cheers Sir!
