Happy Birthday Beyonce

Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter was born September 4, 1981 in Houston Texas. Her given name is Bertha, but the girl changed it to Beyonce when she was 4. When Beyonce was eight, she was sent away to live at a home for future girl group singers in Northern California. The home known as ‘The Factory’, would train girls to sing, dance, act, do their hair, makeup, and marry rappers. The girls would perform for 12 hours per day and then have to do chores and practice martial arts for an additional 8 hours. They were allowed to sleep 4 hours per day and were given only 1 bowl of rice per day to eat. If they missed a note or a dance step they were beaten and locked in the hole.

It was during this time that Beyonce met Kelly Rowland & LaTavia Roberson. They were assigned to be in a group together. Upon graduation, “Destiny’s Child” was given a record contract with Columbia Records. “Destiny’s Child” is best known for their moving hit, “Bootylicious”.

Beyonce appeared in her first acting role as ‘Foxy Cleopatra’ in Austin Powers Goldmember. She then went solo and had a lot of hits and stuff, and then married Jay-Z. Jay-Z was named ugliest musician of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. Barack Obama once joked, “I don’t want to say Jay-Z is ugly but when he went to the proctologist, the Doctor stuck his finger in Jay-Z’s mouth.

Jay-Z and Beyonce are philanthropists and last year decided to pay off layaway accounts for 5 customers at The Dollar Store in Hempstead, NY.  The total bill came out to $27. The billionaire couple said they were not doing it for the publicity, but to help others. They were trying to keep the good deed a secret but the word got out after they shared the news with their millions of Instagram followers. “I know it’s hard times, a lot of people are struggling, and we are just really, really grateful to be able to be in a position to do this. So, God bless you, go get your stuff, get your spatulas and generic candy, merry Christmas,” Beyonce said in the video she posted to Twitter.
