Happy Birthday Alex Van Halen

Alex Arthur Van Halen was born May 8, 1953 in Amsterdam, Netherlands to parents Daan and Roos. No one is really sure which name belongs to which parent.

The Van Halen’s moved to The US in 1962 and settled in California. The young boys were classically trained on the piano until they heard rock music and took up the drums and guitar.

Little Alex wound up becoming arguably, the greatest drummer of all time. Alex spent 10 years in his room practicing and masturbating. When he emerged he was a master of his own destiny and the drums.

Van Halen

Alex and his brother formed Van Halen with frontman David Lee Roth and Bassist Michael Anthony. One of the greatest Hard Rock/Heavy Metal bands of the 70’s and 80’s, the band broke ground musically, sexually and chemically. (*Van Hagar made some good music but Sammy is not DLR)

Not much is known about Alex’s personal life. We hired a private investigator to uncover some facts. Alex married Valeri Kendall in June 1983, after a two-hour engagement. The marriage ended in divorce two days later. Van Halen’s first of two sons, Aric Van Halen, was born October 6, 1989; Aric’s mother was Van Halen’s then-wife, Kelly Carter, whom he divorced in August 1996 after 13 years of marriage. Van Halen married his current wife, Stine Schyberg, in 2000. She is the mother of his son Malcolm Van Halen.

Alex has formed a new band with ex RUSH band members, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson. The name of the band will be ‘Alex Lee Van Rushen’. The touring band will rotate but will consist of multiple bass players, drummers and more. Kind of like a Progressive Metal Grateful Dead. An extravaganza, if you will. For the first leg of the tour, the lineup will be Axl Rose on lead vocals, Geddy Lee on bass/vocals/keys, Alex Lifeson on guitar, Alex Van Halen on drums, Michael Anthony on bass/vocals, Stevie Nicks on tambourine/vocals and Slash on guitar/flugelhorn.
