Gone With the Wind Returning to HBO with New Intro by Al Sharpton
HBO Max will return “Gone With The Wind” to its lineup with a newly added introduction by Black scholar, activist and historian Al Sharpton.
HBO Max temporarily pulled the 1939 movie on Wednesday, leading to a national debate. “After the movie was pulled, racism dropped by 63.7%” said HBO spokesperson, Claude Balzac. “Now that racism is almost gone, we can reintroduce the movie with an introduction. It is still not safe to just return the movie with no explanation. The introduction will prevent racism from reoccurring. And who better than to give the introduction than our old buddy Al Sharpton. No one is better at bringing people together.”
Sharpton plans on giving a moving sermon and motivational speech prior to the showing of the movie. He will then reenact crucial scenes of the movie as a puppet show. He has also rewritten parts of the script that he finds offensive and will overdub the voices with his own words and voice.
Sharpton told Madhouse News that he is excited for this teaching moment. “I have never actually watched the movie” said Sharpton, “but I have heard what others have said and that is good enough for me. I am also thinking of remaking this movie with an all black cast. I think that is a great idea.”
Sharpton has started a new production company that will edit and censor all classic movies. No movies will be shown until they have been given the Al Sharpton seal of approval.
