Foo Fighters Announce Axl Rose on Vocals Dave Grohl on Drums
In a shocking announcement, the Foo Fighters have revealed that Axl Rose will join the band. Rose will take over singing duties as Dave Grohl will move to a familiar role as the band’s drummer.
Grohl made the announcement a day after the emotional and moving tribute to drummer Taylor Hawkins. “I felt it was wrong to replace Taylor with a new drummer” said Grohl. “There is no way I could bear looking back there and seeing someone else in Taylor’s seat. This way I am back there and looking at Axl Rose’s a$$. I much prefer that and I think the fans will as well.”
I’m Not Phil Collins
When asked why not just play drums and sing, Grohl replied, “I am not Phil Collins. No one wants to see the drummer as the front man. It is lame, so I asked Axl to be the singer. Who could be better to front the Foo Fighters than Axl. The man is the best frontman in the game and he sings like an angel. He is the songbird of our generation.”
Axl told Madhouse News, “I am so excited and honored to be an official Foo. Dave is my boy but I always told him he belongs behind the drum kit. He knows I can sing the crap out of the Foo Fighters songs and bring them to a whole ‘nother level.”
Grohl continued, “Pat Smears will again be joining us on guitar and I will probably go down to the local Guitar center to get a second guitarist. There is always a kid in the guitar room playing My Hero or Monkey Wrench. We will begin recording and touring next year sometime. It’s going to be Epic.”
Grohl added that he has already been in touch with the bass player from Nirvana. “I can’t remember that dude’s name but he is the really tall guy. You know, Chris something or other. Well, anyway, he is down for reforming Nirvana with Axl as singer. So if this goes well with the Foos and Axl, maybe next year it will be a Nirvana reunion. Stay tuned.”
