Fans Injured in Freak Porta Potty Accident During Heavy Metal Festival in Iceland
Panic and then desperation spread through the crowd at the Ascension Festival in Iceland when high winds sent portable toilets catapulting through the air.
The Ascension Heavy Metal festival began quietly enough, as 50,000 marauding metal fans invaded the idyllic town of Mosfellsbær, just outside of Reykjavik.
A surprise storm blew in quickly and drenched the festival with a deluge of sleet, snow, rain, hail and gale force winds. Fans were scrambling for cover and many hid inside the portable toilets.
Poop-sicles
Video footage captures a frantic scramble for cover as portable toilets became trajectories that whizzed through the sky. As the porta potty’s were blown about, the turbulence spewed waste and blue liquid over the 50,000 fans in attendance. When the storm was over, a deep freeze rolled in and the temperature dropped to 7 degrees Fahrenheit. The crowd, covered with human waste was instantly frozen solid. Staff described the concert goers as “Poop-sicles”.
Black Metal aficionado Frankie Decicco told Madhouse News, “I hid in the porta potty. When I felt it taking off, I crawled inside the toilet and closed the lid. Sure it was revolting, but it may have saved my life.”
Decicco’s girl friend, Karen Bella recounted her harrowing story. “My boyfriend pushed me out of the way so he could run to safety. I then jumped into another porta potty of my own. The wind scooped it up and I woke up 8 miles from the festival site in a cow pasture. I was covered in feces. It was in my hair, my nose and even in my mouth. I may never recover from this.”
Psychedelic Forest Folk?
Bands scheduled for the 4 day event include: Abominor, Foreskin, Trepaneringsritualen, Dødheimsgard and about 20 others. A veritable who’s who of Icelandic Black and Death Metal. Do not think however this was an event for Black Metal fans only. There were many other genres of music represented. You had your Occult Death Metal, Apocalyptic Death-rock, Psychedelic Forest Folk, Dark-wave/Synth-punk and of course, Industrial/Noise.
