Elton John Named as New Manager of NY Mets!
The New York Mets have hired singer Elton John to replace Mickey Callaway as the team’s manager.
The team announced Elton’s hire today and said he would officially be introduced at an upcoming news conference at Citi Field.
Madhouse Magazine reported Monday that Elton will get a three-year contract with a fourth-year option.
“It’s hard for me to put into words what it means to be named manager of the New York Mets,” Elton said in a statement. “This is truly the opportunity of a lifetime. The Mets are a great organization, and I feel honored. The Mets are going out on a limb for me, considering I have never played baseball and I don’t know much about the game.” I do plan on surrounding myself with great sports minds. Billie Jean King will be my bench coach and Lady Ga Ga will design the new uniforms.”
Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes expressed his enthusiasm over Elton’s’ hiring in a tweet late Sunday night:
Who the Eff is Elton John and why is he manager of the Mets!? #WTF
