Eddie Van Halen: I Saw Sammy Hagar Drive 55 Many Times!

Guitarist Eddie Van Halen has shocked the music world by declaring that he personally witnessed former Van Halen singer, Sammy Hagar driving 55 many times. 

Van Halen made the shocking revelations in a recent Madhouse Magazine interview. During the interview, Eddie also went on to bash ex band members, David Lee Roth, Michael Anthony, Gary Cherone and of course Hagar. 

Eddie is of course referencing Hagar’s 1984 hit song, ‘I Can’t Drive 55’. In the song, Hagar repeats over and over that he can’t drive 55. “It’s all BS” said Van Halen, “His whole stupid persona is nonsense, he is a very careful driver. Actually, I never once saw him drive over 55mph.”

Hagar responded angrily by stating “Oh Yeah!? Well I never saw Eddie Van Halen jump, and I never saw anyone named Jamie, crying. Does that mean it didn’t happen? I don’t know, you be the judge. All i know is that I am not now, nor have i ever been, someone that could drive 55. I cannot and will not drive 55.”

“Everyone in the band would laugh whenever Sammy drove” Eddie continued. “He would be driving like 35 in the right hand lane with both hands on the wheel. 10 and 2. And of course the blinker was always on. It was like driving with your Grandma. And he owned the worst cars. We all had Porsche’s, Mustangs, GTO’s and Sammy would be driving around in a Pinto and a minivan wearing his jean shorts and crocs. What a tool.”
