Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to Play Joey Ramone in New Biopic

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is gearing up to portray punk rock legend Joey Ramone in the upcoming Netflix biopic.

News sources originally reported that comedian Pete Davidson was scheduled to play the punk rock pioneer. However, Davidson was fired in the wee hours after Netflix executives realized how goofy he is and that ‘The Rock’ was available and interested.

‘The Rock’ called Netflix personally to campaign for the role. “I always wanted to play Joey Ramone” said Johnson. “The Ramones are my favorite band, I was born to play this role. Yes sure Joey was not as ripped as I am, but did you ever hear of acting?”

With the addition of Johnson, the movie will now become more action packed. The original script was based on the book “How To Capitalize on Your Brother’s Fame” written by Joey’s brother Mickey. The script has been punched up and will include explosions, car chases and shootouts.

‘The Rock will be joined with acting partner Kevin Hart who will portray Dee Dee Ramone. Patrick Schwarzenegger will play Johnny Ramone, Peter Dinklage as Tommy Ramone and Gal Gadot will star as replacement drummer, Marky Ramone. Howard Stern will make a guest appearance as Joey Ramone’s father, Bub Hyman.

‘The Rock’ will do all his own singing and stunts in the movie. Johnson has been working with a vocal coach for 5 hours per day. “Hell Yeah I am excited about singing” said Johnson. “Not many people know that I have a 4 octave range. I am really looking forward to filming the scene when Joey drives a motorcycle armed with a machine gun through the ‘Lollapalooza’ audience killing half of them. He then chops off Perry Farrell’s head with a machete and kicks it into the crowd. It’s going to be wonderful.”
