Wonder Bar, Asbury Park, NJ

Jerseys favorite boys returned home. Just like the Salmon to Capistrano, Dramarama made their annual pilgrimage to the Jersey Shore for their summer show at the Wonderbar.

It was a hot steamy summer night, and the bar was packed as the band hit the stage. The sound was studio quality and the crowd was on it’s feet. Everyone here on this night got it - Dramarama is the real deal - Dramarama is a kick ass band and should be on every top band list everywhere.
Their 1985 classic - Cinema Verite is as good as any album released in the 1980s. Their follow ups such as Stuck in Wonderamaland were further evidence that they were the Real Deal. 5 star albums loaded with infectious hooks, catchy melodies and thoughtful intelligent angst ridden lyrics.

On this night the band is fantastic, Lead singer John Easdale with his signature black hat and can of tab is warm and charming and greets the crowd as if they are guests in his house. This is a band that truly enjoys what they are doing. They are having as much fun up on that stage as the crowd is watching them. These are childhood friends from Wayne NJ who enjoying playing together, and it shows.

The band played all the crowd favorites and they sounded as good as the first time I heard them in the 1980s. They are a stellar tight knit group of musicians and the songs sounded new and fresh. “Last Cigarette” and “Anything Anything” are anthems and you can see the joy it brings the crowd. Everyones face is lit up in euphoria as they dance and sing along. This is pure joy that only music can bring.

Dramarama - So good they should be famous.
