Dolly Parton Joins Slipknot on Stage At Tiny Venue in CA. Desert
Country legend Dolly Parton shocked fans and melted faces alike when she joined heavy metal icons Slipknot on stage at a tiny venue in the California desert. The unlikely collaboration left audiences scratching their heads, wiping away tears of laughter, and banging their heads in equal measure.
The crowd went crazy as Slipknot singer Corey Taylor announced that a special guest would be joining them and Dolly walked out. Parton performed her classic song “Jolene” with Taylor and then came back out for an encore of “Spit It Out”. Earlier this year Dolly and Slipknot announced they were recording an album together.

The scene was set in the middle of nowhere, at a venue so small it could barely contain the spectacle that was about to unfold. Pappy & Harrietts in Pioneertown, Ca is so small, the locals joke that if you put the key in the door you break a window. The place is so small, The crowd has to clap sideways. The usual crowd at the venue usually consists of tumbleweed, stray dogs, ranch hands and drunken day workers.
This buckwild intimate show was Slipknot’s first show of 2024. The tickets were only $9 and all proceeds went to charity to supply clean drinking water to Pioneertown’s 9 full time residents. Additional funds were used to purchase a mechanical bull for Pappy & Harriett’s. Also the band paid for Pappy’s hip surgery and Harriett’s new dentures.
As Slipknot prepared to unleash their signature brand of chaotic metal madness upon the unsuspecting crowd, no one could have predicted the surprise guest waiting in the wings. Enter Dolly Parton, resplendent in all her sequined glory, strumming a bedazzled guitar and flashing her trademark million-dollar smile. As the opening chords of “Jolene” reverberated through the desert air, Slipknot’s masked marauders looked on in disbelief, unsure of what was happening but fully embracing the absurdity of the moment.

In a seamless fusion of genres, Dolly’s sweet twang intertwined with Slipknot’s thunderous riffs, creating a cacophony of sound that defied explanation. As she crooned her way through the classic country hit, Slipknot’s percussion section pounded away like a herd of stampeding buffalo, while the guitarists shredded with the ferocity of a pack of rabid wolves.
Dolly got into the spirit and for the encore she even did a costume change. Dolly donned Slipknot’s signature red jumpsuit and even put on a mask. The crowd, initially stunned into silence by the surreal spectacle unfolding before their eyes, soon found themselves swept up in the madness. Mosh pits erupted spontaneously, with fans clad in cowboy boots and studded leather jackets slamming into each other with reckless abandon.
