DNA Test Confirms Steven Van Zandt & Ronnie Van Zant Are Brothers!

A curious Steven Van Zandt received quite the shock along with his results from a recent DNA test. He has half siblings all over the world, including the famous Lynyrd Skynyrd singer, Ronnie Van Zant. At his wife’s urging, Van Zandt decided to do an AncestryDNA test this summer. After discovering a match, he hired a Private Investigator to look into the matter further. Yes it’s true, the DNA Test Confirms Steven Van Zandt & Ronnie Van Zant Are Brothers.

Celebrity Detective, Frank Cannon, took on the case and after some digging opened up a can of worms. It appears that the patriarch of the Van Zandt family, Claude Van Zandt, was quite busy.

Claude was a traveling widget salesman and apparently left ‘presents’ where ever he went. Claude had a family in Massachusetts and a second family in Florida. He changed the family name from Van Zandt to Van Zant in an attempt to hide his shenanigans.

Ronnie Van Zant was born in Florida in 1948 and Steven Van Zandt was born in Massachusetts in 1950. Steven later moved to New Jersey at age 7.

The two half brothers loved Rock n Roll and pursued successful careers in music. Steven, as a member of the E Street Band went on to huge success with Bruce Springsteen and put Asbury Park, NJ on the musical map. Ronnie and Lynyrd Skynyrd were hugely successful and helped create the Southern Rock Genre. Unfortunately Ronnie died in a plane crash in 1977.

Steven told Madhouse News, “It is funny, but I actually met Ronnie once back in the early 1970’s. I was on tour and stopped to visit my father in Florida. He introduced me to my ‘Aunt Flo’ and ‘Cousin Ronnie’. He made us take some weird family portrait. I never really thought about it after that. Who knew my cousin Ronnie was really my half brother and he would go on to be one of the biggest rock stars in the world. I should have known my Dad was up to no good. He wore a white belt and white shoes.”

Claude had many other kids all over the country. It is estimated, he has over 100 children. Going under the pseudo names: Van Heflin, Van Halen, Van Helsing, Van Johnson and many others.
