David Lee Roth Hospitalized After Eating Brown M&M’s

In a rather ironic twist, rocker David Lee Roth was hospitalized after eating brown M&M’s. The Van Halen no brown M&M clause of the 1980s was dismissed as silly rock star excess. However It turns out that Roth is deathly allergic to the brown dye in the candies.

For those unfamiliar with the infamous Van Halen tour rider, it included a demand for a bowl of M&M candies in the dressing room, with the specific instruction: “WARNING: ABSOLUTELY NO BROWN ONES.” Evidently, It wasn’t about a rockstar’s eccentricity; there was a method to this colorful madness.

Basically Roth used the bowl of M&Ms as a sort of backstage safety check. If he found even a single brown M&M lurking among the rest, he knew that the venue had not read the rider thoroughly. This lack of attention to detail often translated into potential safety hazards with the stage setup, leading to the band canceling shows or experiencing technical mishaps. And so, spotting a brown M&M meant an immediate inspection of the stage and a kick in the balls for the venue manager.

But this time, the tables turned on Roth. David was enjoying himself at a weekend BBQ when the trouble started. In a seemingly innocent act, the party hosts brought out trays of desserts and candies. In a classic case of karma’s retaliation, he found himself staring at a bowl filled with an assortment of multicolored M&Ms, including hundreds of the dreaded brown monsters.

Immediately the peer pressure began. Guests began chanting and singing “Eat It” by Weird Al Yankovic. Old ladies and little children were laughing and calling him a weenie. Being the consummate performer, Roth couldn’t resist the temptation to put on a show for his fellow party-goers, and thus, he bravely decided to eat the brown M&M.

David grabbed a handful of browns and jammed them in his mouth. Within moments, Roth’s throat closed up and he was struck with a sudden dizziness, causing him to stumble and grab onto nearby furniture for support. The room fell silent as everyone watched in awe and concern. His face blew up, he was frothing at the mouth and he had explosive diarrhea. Paramedics were immediately called, and Roth was rushed to the nearest hospital. He was given a shot with an Epipen and immediately came around. Finally, he was given a clean bill of health and discharged. After the news broke, many said they could hear the sound of Sammy Hagar’s laughter miles away.
