Barry Gibb Reforms The Bee Gees With Jelly Roll & Lainey Wilson
Barry Gibb has decided to reform the Bee Gees with a twangy twist. Teaming up with country chart-toppers Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson, the trio is set to bring a whole new meaning to the term “Stayin’ Alive.” The new band will be called the Bee Jays. That was Jelly Roll’s idea.
Barry and his brothers Gibb originally formed the Bee Gees in Australia in the 1950s. As children, Barry, Robin and Maurice formed a skiffle group and performed for sailors on leave and at local prisons. The trio became huge pop stars in England in the late 1960s. After their fame faded in the 1970s, they rebranded themselves as Disco superstars with high voices.

Barry has not performed much since Robin and Maurice passed away. However, he has been itching lately to get back out on the road. “Who better to reform the band with than Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson” said Gibb. “I have been hanging out in Nashville a lot and these 2 are pretty awesome. Plus Lainey has a nice Caboose. To be fair Jelly Roll does too. Also the harmonies are incredible.”
Barry believes that this collaboration is the perfect way to bridge the gap between genres and generation gaps. “We want to create a fusion that will have everyone on the dance floor” said Gibb. “It doesn’t matter if they are wearing Capezio’s or Cowboy Boots. Plus country is big, it’s my ticket back. I am going to ride Jelly Roll back to the top like a bloated tattooed Seabiscuit.”
Jelly Roll, known for his Southern rap and hip-hop influences, brings a unique flavor to the mix. Picture “How Deep Is Your Love” with a banjo and a hip-hop beat – that’s the kind of unexpected magic Jelly Roll is promising. White disco suits with bedazzled hats and sequin boots. Jelly Roll then joked, “I thought I heard an Onion singing a Bee Gees song but it turned out to be a chive talking.”
The trio will perform at this year’s Oscars, Grammy’s and Country Music Awards. The CMA’s have an awards show at least three times a week. As publicity for the new Trio, The band is planning on having John Travolta recreate his famous bridge hanging stunt. Travolta will perform the stunt on The Verrazano bridge in Brooklyn as The Bee Jays perform their new version of Stayin Alive Y’all.
