Australians Petition to Put Angus Young on Currency Replacing Queen Elizabeth
Fans in Australia have started a petition to get the country to feature AC/DC Guitarist Angus Young on the $5 note. Their hopes may become a reality after Assistant Treasury Minister Andrew Leigh revealed that the new king may not necessarily replace his mother on the $5 note in the way new coins will feature him.
Mr. Leigh informed reporters in Canberra earlier last month that the monarch would feature on Australian coins “as a matter of tradition”. However this is not the case for the country’s pink and purple note. This potentially means the door is wide open for suggestions on who should make the next appearance on the $5 note.
Dirty Deeds
Ed Lemond and Archie Ferguson started the petition and have gained a collective 42 million signatures so far. “Who doesn’t love AC/DC” said Ferguson. “Little Angus is an International treasure. Come on mate, Highway to Hell, Back in Black, Dirty Deeds, Big Balls, Whole Lotta Rosie, there is no one more vital to Australian culture than Angus Young.”
“Angus is beloved by all and has become synonymous with the Australian values we hold so dearly,” Mr. Ferguson said. “He epitomized the spirit of mate-ship. Angus deeply loved the Australian way of life. Rocking hard, drinking hard and banging chicks but perhaps most importantly he’s just a good bloke.”
“We propose keeping all existing $5 notes featuring Queen Elizabeth II in circulation” said Lemond. “Then introduce a new series of $5 notes honoring Angus. Actually the notes can feature all of AC/DC. Have a note for Bon Scott, Malcolm, Brian Johnson and then the whole band together. It will be so cool.”
“Who would be better than Angus” said Lemond. “Iggy Azalea, that douche Keith Urban, one of those soul less actors? Crocodile Dundee, Steve Irwin, King Charles? That is an insult to our country. Angus and AC/DC we salute you.”
