Marilyn Manson was shocking, outrageous and controversial. Parents were terrified of him. Religious groups, politicians and authority figures hated him. The Kids loved him. That is the essence of Rock n Roll.

The stage name Marilyn Manson was formed by combining and juxtaposing the names of two American pop cultural icons of the 1960s: actress Marilyn Monroe and criminal Charles Manson. It summed up the world's fascination with celebrity. Famous or Infamous.

The band had huge success on MTV with a remake of the Eurythmics song "Sweet Dreams". The video was a classic, that terrified people and intrigued others. Who or what is this? What am I looking at!?

Manson received death threats, bomb threats, boycotts, shows were cancelled and there was a rumour that Manson was planning to kill himself on stage.
The band had 3 Gold and 3 Platinum Albums. The 1996 Album 'Antichrist Superstar' is considered by many to be a masterpiece, and thrust Manson into superstardom. "Beautiful People", "Tourniquet", "Irresponsible Hate Anthem"! The album peaked at #3 on the Billboard U.S Charts.

Manson partied like a Rock Star, dated actresses, and lived a life of excess. That's Rock n Roll!

Manson is a talented singer, songwriter, actor, writer, visual artist and producer. Manson appeared in David Lynch's "Lost Highway", and was a regular on "Sons of Anarchy"

Manson was influenced by other horror themed artists, such as Alice Cooper, but took it to a whole new level. Manson kept the persona on and off stage. That's Rock n Roll!

Happy Birthday Marilyn Manson!
