Twentieth Century Fox has announced that Danny Trejo will portray Freddie Mercury in an upcoming action packed biography.

Director Robert Rodriguez has confirmed that Trejo will portray singer Freddie Mercury in his new film. “This Freddie Mercury film will be a little different” says Rodriguez. “Trejo will play Mercury as a singer by night and a Mexican Federale during the day.”

The film will be titled “Freddie ‘Machete’ Mercury, and will be unlike anything we have seen before. The remaining Queen members will be portrayed by Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone and Jet Li.

Controversy

“Sure, It is a bit controversial” said Trejo, “we all know Freddie was a Lover of life, singer of songs, but who’s to say that Mercury was not an ex Mexican Federale. Who’s to say that he did not murder bad guys with a machete. There are a lot of things about Freddie’s life that we don’t know.”

Trejo will be doing all of his own singing, and has been working with a vocal coach for 4 hours per day. “Yeah I am excited about singing”, said Trejo, “not many people know that I have a 4 octave range. I will be doing all my own stunts as well.  The scene I had the most fun doing, was when Freddie swings down on a rope and slaughters the entire band ‘Mott the Hoople’. He beheads the drummer and kicks it into the audience. It was a lot of fun.”

Brian May and Roger Taylor are signed on as executive producers for the new film. The pair told Madhouse Magazine: “Danny Trejo has great presence and he’s utterly dedicated to the project. He’s completely living and breathing Freddie already, which is wonderful. We love the scene when Freddie drives a motorcycle armed with a machine gun through the ‘Live Aid’ audience killing half of them. It’s going to be wonderful.”
